In Villa de Leyva, you will have time to discover on your own the cobbled streets of a charming little town, built with the typical Spanish architecture in 1572 and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Many small shops of handicrafts, textiles, decorative items, gifts, excellent restaurants, and Coffee Shops complement the visit to this beautiful corner of Colombia. If you like photography, flowers, gardens, fountains, interior courtyards ... If you enjoy a quiet dinner in a small restaurant with live music (or even without it). If you want to walk safely in the moonlight and enjoy the vision of this place during the night, this should be your choice.
On the morning of the next day, we take a guided tour of the lost corners of the Villa, where the average visitor does not arrive easily. Then, we go to Ráquira, artisan capital of the Colombian Andes, where you will be delighted with its colorful atmosphere, always partying, and with what its inhabitants do with mud and fire.
And if your tour includes a Saturday or a Sunday, the peasant market is mandatory! In the middle of the bustle of the locals, with their typical ways of dressing, between fruits and vegetables, between the typical foods that include local delicacies and the provocative aromas of the roasts that invite you to enjoy an exquisite Club Colombia, the national beer!
Also included in your tour, at no additional cost, one of the three attractions we offer below:
The Fossil: In this museum, you will find the remains of a Kronosaurus, a marine reptile that lived in this place about 110 million years ago. Other fossils found in the area complement the exposure.
La Candelaria Convent: In the desert of La Candelaria, 15 kilometers from Ráquira, is the first monastery that the Augustinian Recollect monks founded America, in 1604. In addition to the beautifully preserved facilities and the chapel, it contains invaluable works of colonial art that correspond to the times of its construction and the years of operation.
Wine Tour: From its own crops, Villa de Leyva produces high-quality wines. It is very interesting to visit the vineyards and learn about the winemaking process, from the strain to the tasting.
